MOVING COMMUNITIES
Moving Communities tracks participation at public leisure facilities and provides new evidence of the sector’s performance, sustainability and social value. This data will assist local authorities, leisure providers and policymakers to support the recovery of public gyms and leisure centres, taking informed decisions to keep our nation active.
About:
- Sport England and Government recognise the vital role that gyms and leisure centres play in helping people to be active. In order to fully understand this role, Moving Communities will track participation at public leisure facilities and provide new evidence to monitor the sector’s performance, sustainability and social value.
- Moving Communities will measure the impact of £100m National Leisure Recovery Fund provided by the Exchequer and administered via Sport England, to inform future investment decisions to help strengthen communities and improve our nation’s health and wellbeing.
- The Moving Communities platform will provide participating local authorities with access to new Moving Communities dashboards that will help inform and evidence local decisions. Moving Communities will also publish a quarterly, comprehensive overview of the nation’s public leisure services to help provide further insights to encourage activity in localities.
